According to the 990 they filed in 2006, their phone number is 914-381-6205. But that could just be a family member's home phone or cell phone, so you should be careful calling it unless you know what you're doing.

alms: The Weisfelds sgt. serenity is referring to are based in Scotland, so that probably isn't the same family.

Foundation Center website. Also has the 990s (as does Guidestar)-- just click on "view 990"

Probably don't accept proposals, as they're awfully small, but all they can do is throw it out. Unless they specifically say "no unsolicited proposals," you can try sending something, for what its worth. It's not like they're going to have you arrested. Go to your local library and ask for the Foundation Center software in the research section; I don't have the Fdn Ctr subscription anymore, so I can't dig any deeper, but most libraries have this software.

As you can see, the usual USian methods of finding foundations isn't working. The only thing I can think of is contacting an organisation, such as this one, that has received a grant from the Weisfeld foundation. I don't know if they will share contact information or not or what the norms are surrounding foundations in the U.K. I wonder if you would be better off posting this on a U.K. charity website or listserv?

Hmm. They don't show up in the searchable database at the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator, nor that of the Charity Commission. A UKļ¼registered charity should usually show up in one of those. If you have no luck elsewhere I would suggest contacting the OSCR and asking them, as they appear to be the body the foundation should be registered with. The only other thing that might be a lead that turned up while I was trying searches that linked them with a registered charity number was this Sunday Post article. It's not date, but maybe someone there still has their contacts?

Response by poster: It's all very mysterious - it's certainly the weisfeld foundation in the uk i'm looking for - the former store owners etc
