Words fail me

Word indents one space at the top of every page for no reason I can find
In some documents that I write in Word the first word (or a bullet or whatever) is indented one space. Second line and all other lines are fine - until the top of the next page.
It isn't a set tab or other indent command, it doesn't seem to be something hidden in the normal template, it isn't visible via any form of page view as a code, it just happens and I can't fix it.
Ideas?

Try the settings for Format/Paragraph under indentation.

Yes, delete normal.dot.
In fact, do a search on your computer for "normal.dot" and delete every instance you find. It can live in several places.
If that's not it, look in Tools/Templates and Add-Ins... for any templates that are loading in addition to normal.dot.

Response by poster: Will try delete - but it only happens on some docs, not all, and on all PCs I read the document on. Does that mean anything?

Once you create a document on one computer, settings it has incorporated from its template will persist even when you take it to another computer. Delete all the copies of normal.dot. Then try again with a new document.

Response by poster: A search for normal.dot reveals no such file on my laptop at home. ????
Maybe I am not making this too clear - it isn't that every document I create has this problem, just some. It might be only on my work PC, I don't know.
I'd live with it happening if there was some way I could go into affected documents and do XYZ and fix it.
