where's a dog to beach

I live in brooklyn, have a dog and i want to bring him to an (ocean) beach

I know generally what the laws are, most beaches nearby do not allow dogs during peak season. But i am more interested in what beaches informally allow dogs, where i won't get a ticket or have people hating me. So i am interested in first hand experiences of what local beaches people go with their dogs.

I have taken my dogs to Far Rockaway beach many times. I am not sure what the rules are in the summer but fall and winter are fine. No one is there and those who are, are locals walking their dogs.
