I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Someone, O someone, please tell me more about the person in this picture. (Referenced here, and apparently something of a meme I missed out on...)

Seriously? Google for Brian Peppers, and you'll know everything you want to know (and probably more). I found the hysteria that rose up around him to be more than a little predatory and quite distasteful.

If I remember correctly, he's a convicted sex offender from Ohio.

His name is Brian (J) Peppers.

This is apparently the Wikipedia article on him before it was removed.

Enjoy.

I completely agree. Especially when I saw the (oddly cute, I thought) pictures of him as a smiling child. I wanted to cry, too, but maybe not for the same reason as nevercalm.

Response by poster: No peep, I'm pretty sure it's for the same reason.

Oh good, no offense intended. There was a thread in the blue with a lot of OMGMYEYES bullshit where he was being used as a punchline over and over. It was appalling.

Response by poster: Yes, there's something uniquely horrifying about the Internet, in that anonymous people can be as cruel and tasteless as they like, where in real life they'd never have the balls to say any of that stuff to anyone's face (and rightly so). Where else in life could you take such savage glee at making fun of a mentally disabled, wheelchair-bound man who is confined to a nursing home at a very young age, seemingly wrongly imprisoned due to previously mentioned mental disability, looking in his mugshot for all the world like he was worked over, not to mention unfortunately formed from birth cat such as Mr Peppers?

Compassion and understanding are dying emotions.
