Frozen window height

How to unlock window height in GNOME (more specifically, Thunderbird)?
A few days ago my cat walked on the keyboard while I was writing an email in Thunderbird. And now the height of the composition window is fixed to maximized-height (fully extended between my top and bottom panels). I can resize the width of the window all I want, but height is staying fixed. This is driving me crazy! I've already tried to recreate my cat's path by randomly banging on the keyboard, to no avail.
Does anyone know what magical combination of keys or clicks will undo this? I'm using Ubuntu if it makes a difference.

Response by poster: I figured it out. Under the Keyboard shortcuts menu, "Unmaximize window" was listed as Alt+F5.
For some reason this worked even though clicking on the on the Maximize/Unmaximize title bar button repeatedly did not.
