What BDSM clubs can I find in New York City (and surrounding)?

Not looking for "dungeons" -- Looking for general club type places to sit, watch, maybe participate, in some kinky action. I know about and frequently go to PaddlesNYC, which is sorta what I'm looking for.... but it CAN'T be the only place in town -- especially when that town is New York..... can it?

very few. a lot in nyc happens around private parties. paddles is the only really well known left one but I personally found myself rather annoyed by the strict policies and old men there.

the best way is to get to know a few people who go to parties and can introduce you. join a couple local groups or talk to the friendly staff at purple passions.

Someone in the know definitely needs to answer this question. When I moved here a little over two years ago, this was exactly the sort of question I should have asked.

Here's a link, but I'm not sure how many of these are still open:

Is The Vault still around?

That 123escorts list is out of date -- wrong on at least two locations at first glance.

As for public, regularly occurring parties, there is nothing better than Paddles at this point (except for Submit, if you're female -- excellent sm-focused monthly party). Hellfire reopened in Brooklyn as Fetish Warehouse, but that has never been as good as Paddles for a number of reasons. Nutcracker Suite is rumored to have good occasional parties -- I have never gone so can't say one way or the other.

You will meet great people at the open classes/meetings of TES (tes.org). When they know you in person, you're one step closer to potentially getting invited to something private or semi-private. Obviously you need to appear friendly, nice and respectful. It's a pretty fun & friendly community for the most part. There will always be some haughty, aloof people who take themselves way too seriously..... but they don't throw the best parties anyway. :)

Private parties are going to have "strict policies" too -- I'm not sure why that's a negative thing. Parties without clearly articulated rules about consent, safety, photography, etc. are bad news, imho. Or maybe krautland is referring to the NYC law (enforced by Paddles and by any other public club) that says you can't mix penetrative sex with sm in a public venue. That is another good reason to seek out the private or semi-private parties (assuming you're not one of those purists who are against mixing sex & sm).

there used to be more places, but now it's all private or very very hidden. Get friendly with people at the one place you go to, and ask around--you'll get invites.

okay, let me help you out once more. go to bondage.com, look at the forums and ask this question there. local people galore.

second sparrows on TES, btw. solid group. I was more referencing the strict policies at private parties. it was kind of tough to find the right circles in the beginning but it was worth it. as for paddles ... that place is boring. they go much further than they'd have to in protecting patrons from themselves.

avoid nutcracker.

:)

...but if only I could tell you how many politicians are into this sort of thing (not parties obviously, private sessions)...

I also recommend posting to the relevant forums on Bondage.com (There's probably one specific to NY or the NE or to finding resources; something like that).

But if you're still up a creek, you're welcome to email me privately (address in profile). I know a couple of people who would probably have this sort of info regarding NYC. It might take a few days, though, for me to get emails off to them and receive responses. So let me know if you're interested.
