Looking for things to do along the road from Greensboro, NC to Nashville, TN

What are some fun/quirky/must-see things along the road to Nashville from Greensboro? I know about Asheville, Great Smoky Mountain. Going to the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville. Leaving with friends on 5/8 and must be in Nashville by the evening of 5/10. Any typical 10 story ball of yarn type sites along the way?

Also, things not to miss in Asheville would be great as well.

Thanks!

I have always wanted to go see Floyd Garrett's Musclecar Museum in Sevierville, just outside of Asheville.

There was a pretty good "what to do in Asheville" askme about a year ago, and, from that thread, here's my definitive what to do in Asheville answer.

not sure about any balls of yarn but there are plenty of awesome places to eat in downtown asheville.

i had a very nice dinner at tupelo honey cafe once. recommended.

grove park inn, rec'ed.

the last time i went, a friend took my girlfriend and me out on a 'tour' of asheville. he asked us if we wanted to check out this art store. i said no, but somehow he persuaded us to go in anyway. i was confused at an art store being open at 11:00 at night, but my questions were answered when i was looking around the store and walked to the back, and there right in front of my eyes was a great big dildo. apparently the store is half generic art shop and half sex-toy-store. what made it even more awesome was that the owner or whoever was working there was one of the best salespeople i've ever seen. he sold those dildos like they were cars or something, explaining every feature and benefit and vibrations per second. hilarious.
