Hello All--Does anyone know of a fun, inexpensive place in or near Alexandria, VA to have a wedding shower for about 20 people?

Best answer: What kind of fun? Teaparty with hats? Goofy cartoony kid-stuff? Artsy activity (eg paint your own pottery)? Late lunch with drinks?

Also, the forums on indiebride.com are good for questions like this - they have lots of info on specific venues.

My standard response to questions like this is to check the Going Out Gurus chat on Thursdays at 1:00 at washingtonpost.com. They've usually got good ideas for this sort of thing.

Mount Vernon?

Or what about that Irish Pub in Old Town whose name I can't remember at the moment?

My darling girlfriend, who just did a bunch of research on shower locations before deciding to do it on her deck, offers this:

Las Tapas on King Street
Upstairs room at Bilbo Baggins
100 King on King Street
Private room at Union Street Public House
One of those boats that departs from Old Town
Stardust (a restaurant in old town)

and finally - Overwood Grill, an impending old town offering from the owners of Boulevard Woodgrill, may be open by then. BW in Clarendon has an available private room so OG might as well.
