IRCfilter: how to use fserves on Mac osx

Are there any comprehensive guides to Fserve use on Mac OSX?

I am a windows user, and am trying to convince my friend ( a mac user) to start using fserves.

What i would like are guides to what programs to use (xchat aqua and obsidian don't seem to be working for him, and that's all i found on google.) i can probably help him out from there on (channels and commands)

Response by poster: hmm... looks like ircle or maybe iroffer might work.

Using Fserves with Ircle.

Although honestly I haven't used IRC in years; 1:1 filesharing seems a bit antiquated in the days of Bittorrent, but to each their own.

Ircle is probably the best client, X-Chat Aqua is next (though I have no idea why it wouldn't work for him...that might not be a good sign for anything working). It's also possible, if he really wants to, to install native OS X versions of the mainstream Linux IRC clients, like BitchX.

Response by poster: xchat aqua itself is working, but the fserve attachment, obsidian doesn't seem to work.

i'll have him try ircle

how do you need an "fserve attachment"? dontcha just go into the correct channel, !list and then talk to the thing using PM? It'll DCC you a file when you ask for it, you shouldn't need any addon to the irc client.
