another e61 "trick": cut and paste
it works just like windows. hold down shift (up arrow) and move the joystick to highlight some text. push ctrl+c.
go somewhere else (e.g. another app) and ctrl+v

Q. How can I insert special characters into my text on my Nokia E61 (or E70 for that matter)?
A. The most common special characters can be inserted by pressing the 'Chr' key and selecting the one you want from the pop-up grid.
