iDon't understand iPhoto

My Mac powerbook crashed. I had backed up 99% of everything, so it wasn't as painful as it could have been. But for some weird reason iPhoto doesn't show that I have any photos.

I dragged my iPhoto folders from my external hard drive into the new hard drive iPhoto folder, but it shows that I have NO pictures. Even though they are there, in the folder. When I try to add them folder by folder I get an error message that says the file is unreadable. I tried dragging photo by photo, but some photos will get imported and others will be "unreadable". What do I need to do to get iPhoto to read and recognize my photos?

What version of iPhoto were you running pre-crash? Make sure you are running the same version (get all the iPhoto updates, etc). The library data tends to be incompatible with earlier versions.

Response by poster: Oh. I'm checking that now. It's actually 5.0.4.

Best answer: Did you move over the iPhoto preferences file? It's possible some library data could have been stored there.
