Does Veteran's Administration medical treatment information get to the insurance world?

Similar to this concern, is the medical record for anti-depressant prescription and therapy provided by the VA available to the insurance industry, and would it affect future insurance coverage and/or hiring? thanks.

I would imagine that if the problem is not service-connected, the VA would try to bill any insurance if the patient has it--be it HMO/PPO/etc or Medicare. If you get meds filled at the VA, I'm not sure.
