Laptops for sale with XP?

I'm saving up for a laptop, but I don't want Vista. Can I buy a new laptop with XP installed?

I'll have enough money in a month or so for a cheap laptop. However, I don't want to be on the bleeding edge of Windows. Vista doesn't offer anything I want that XP doesn't have. Can I buy a laptop that still offers XP or do I have to buy a macbook? (Which I don't want to, since they're more expensive and I'm not as familiar with OS X as I am with XP).

Some places sell laptops with no OS. It should be pretty simple to buy a copy of XP on the cheap and install it yourself.

Yes. I just bought 45 current laptops today with XP Pro. Older models with XP are going to be available for several months. Some vendors will probably include free vista upgrade coupons at some point too to get old stock moving.

You could get a top-of-the-line slightly-used machine. :)

Yes and No. You will still be able to get No OS or XP systems via online retailers like Newegg or Tiger DIrect or Refurbs from places like Geeks.com.

However, if you're looking to walk into any Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Staples, Office Max or Circuit City and pick up an XP system, good luck.

I work for Best Buy here in Pennsylvania and we've been out of XP stock for about a month, with tiny 10 computer burst shipments since christmas, which would sell in about a day.

I actually was at my store until almost 2 am last night setting up Vista display units and loading them with our software. Major retailers won't be carrying XP anymore.
