Artists not carried by i-tunes?

What are some of the more well-known artists that the i-tunes store does not carry?
All my brother says he wants for Christmas is iTunes gift certificates, and I'll get him some but I'd like to also be able to surprise him with something he can't get there.
Thanks!

AC/DC, The Beatles, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa.

Last time I checked, you can't get AC/DC or Zeppelin from iTunes.

I discovered that, aside from a couple of tracks from movie soundtracks, they don't have The Zombies.

The Beatles should be obvious, because of the dispute with Apple Records.

The Beatles not being on iTunes is not just about the dispute with Apple Records.

Much of the earlier catalog of The Posies isn't there.
As well as none of Dada, with the exception of their MCA, self-titled release.

I may be in the minority here but this sounds like a bad idea. "Here, I got you something based entirely on the premise that it's exactly what you said you didn't want" doesn't seem like a great strategy. If you want to show him that there's more out there than what's at iTunes, then that's admirable, but I think there are better ways to accomplish that -- such as showing him the URL of this question. But if he said that all he wants is iTunes gift certificates then from that I infer that all the music he cares about is already on iTunes and that he doesn't trust you (the collective you, not you personally) to pick music that he will like. If it were me, and I was into, say, Swedish black metal, and specifically asked for iTunes gift certificates in lieu of actual CDs, then I would be awful resentful to get a Beatles CD that I'd never listen to. But again, maybe I'm reading more into this than there is. And like I said, it's good to show him that there's lots of music out there not on iTunes, just don't show him in the form of CDs that you picked out.

Response by poster: No, he's the one who has said that not all the music he wants to have on his ipod is available at iTunes. He mentioned the Beatles specifically, but no one else. I know that he's trying to put all the music he has always loved--including record albums he never picked up in CD format--onto his ipod.
He didn't say "don't give me any other music." He just couldn't come up with anything else when I asked what he wanted for Christmas. His wife says he's a bit obsessed with this business of putting all of "his" music on his ipod.
We're not a couple of kids--he's 46 and I'm 44!
Early Elvis Costello is a great lead, as well as the Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and the Zombies.
Many thanks to you all!

No proper Jethro Tull records on iTunes. I dug out my copy of Stormwatch on vinyl.
