I can't find these Birkenstock/Birki Trinidad sandals in a size 43 in black online...I bet you can't....that's a challenge. :)

I'm trying to find a pair of Birkenstocks (or Birki's) in the style "Trinidad" in a size 43 in black...I've searched eBay, clicked everywhere in Google, and can find almost any size and color but 43 in black. I have a pair that split in two after almost 10 years and I miss them.

Originally these were called Birkenstock Trinidad and then somewhere along the line they swicthed to Birki Trinidad. Both are sometimes still available. Online is much better than brick and mortar. These aren't for the holidays, so we're not looking for rushable or pick-up-able places. Preferably in the U.S. Thanks a bunch.

Close, but no cigar.

Response by poster: Yes very close...I'm familiar with the "Aruba". It's basically the same except for the footbed. The Trinidad has a hexagonal pattern that grips (or scours) the bottom of the foot much like an old Chaco--and takes a while to get used to. The Aruba is flat with some ridges, thus allowing the foot to slide a bit--although more comfortable initially. Thanks for looking!

I know you said you prefer online, but a brick-and-mortar can probably order them for you direct from Birkenstock.

Response by poster: The stores that I've called claim that they don't make them anymore, thus not available from Birkenstock. But they could be lazy...thus my plea to AskMeFi.

Not sure how well this ever works, but you could try posting to ebay's Want It Now. It might be worth a try.

Have you tried Aaron's Birkenstock Overstock. "Looking for that favorite, sold out
style? We may have it and we are
ready to deal!"
They also do repair work on Birki's, maybe yours could be fixed.

Response by poster: Just called Aaron's Birkenstock Overstock and they don't have them..."Wow, haven't seen that one in a while...". And they can't be fixed--I've been down that road 3 times already. Keep those ideas coming!!!

Other ideas:

-Other colors. Are you open to them? (prob. not, since you'd have said so.)

-Pestering ebay sellers. (Not just searching.) It looks like some ebay sellers have sold the shoe you're looking for recently, and sell similar shoes currently. For example, this ebay store. Moreover, its 'store policies' say:

If your item doesn't fit or you are dissatisfied for any reason, you can either exchange it for a different size or get a money back refund, whichever you prefer.

So, they probably have more sizes than just the ones listed. You could try emailing the store and asking if they have these in a 43 (and appropriate width). In fact, that page says "Other sizes are also available. Please contact us." Hmm.

There are probably other ebay stores that you could try contacting with the same request.

-Pestering Birkenstock. You could contact them and ask what stores near you are supposed to have the shoes in their inventory (even though they've been discontinued.) Then call the stores to see if they have any left.

...and buy 4 or 5 pairs, if they have them, obviously.
