Stories that involve shadows?

Novels, short stories, movies--all are welcome. I find shadow stories spooky and interesting. My fave was a kid book called "The Shades" which explains how the shadows of people live their own lives. Know of any others?

Have you read Tanizaki's In Praise of Shadows? It's non-fiction, but a really interesting and illuminating (extra pun intended) treatise on Japanese aesthetics, shadows in particular.

Luna e l'altra? Though it's not 'spooky', it's a nice story with a twist that fits with the "shadows living their own lives" theme.

If you happen to find it on DVD, let me know - I've been after it for years.

The X-Files episode "Soft Light" (season 2, episode 23) guest starred Tony Shalhoub as a scientist whose shadow keeps accidentally killing people because it's been oddly affected by a botched experiment.

Response by poster: Fantastic! Thanks for all the suggestions. I've been toying with writing a tale of my own, and want to avoid what's already been done.
