Marketing newsworthy photographs

I carry a digital camera everywhere. If I was to take a picture of a newsworthy event, and say it was the only picture and possibly of national interest, how would I go about marketing that photograph?

You could offer to sell it to Reuters or AP.

You could also call your local daily newspaper. If they belong to the AP, they can offer the photo up to the rest of the membership, in addition to using it themselves.

Perhaps you would sell to a photo syndication agency or indeed direct to the picture desk at a newspaper.
