Help me come up with a catchy name for my campus' "Water Week." It will be happening in late January and will be a week dedicated to discussing issues in three areas: environment, accessibility, commodification. Speakers, an art exhibition, and movies are being planned. Bonus points for recommendations of films, special topics, general advice.

But if you're looking for enviromentally themed movies, do a search on the Green DC film festival site. I found a few on water but the link doesn't translate properly, so just search for "water" here

Water Week sounds good to me.

Jay-Z , the UN and MTV made a water documentary. Apparently he "was looking for a cause to attach" himself to.

There is also Running Dry.

LethBridge over Troubled Waters?

Might be short notice, but U of Alberta's David Schindler would be an excellent choice for a speaker.

I don't have any more clever names for you to try, but I thought I would point you toward a similar event on environment and water that was put on by students in my university program last year.

The Symposium committee does change every year, but if you contact the organizers of this year's symposium (different topic, but same pool of students and same venue), they might have some ideas and reccomendations to share with you on running such an event, and/or put you in contact with the students who ran the Symposium last year on water shortage and conservation. I wasn't able to attend, but it got rave reviews and I really enjoyed the symposiums other years.

Best of luck!

Get Wet

Or, from the Tarot we bring you The ACE of Water. ACE standing for Accessibility, Commodification and Environment. You could graphically highlight which area a specific event belonged to by changing the colour/size/font of one or more of the letters in ACE on your flyers and posters. For example "The acE of Water: Movie Night" would focus on enviromental issues.

In case you haven't seen them, there are Tarot decks that substitute the four elements for the traditional suits, with water taking the place of the cups. You might even find some good graphic ideas from those decks.

Do a screening of The Milagro Beanfield War (mostly for fun, but it's not without its edifying message).
