Dog Boarding in LA

Help my pooch! I need to board my dog for a week, and I need recommendations for good kennels in the Los Angeles area.
My dog Bix needs someplace to stay while the family and I scoot off to Beantown for the holidays. I've never boarded him before, and I'm terrified of making a rotten choice. We're hoping to find a reasonabley priced place with room for him to play, with a devoted staff. Are there any Angelenos that can offer advice?
BTW, he's about 45 lbs, in fine health, good with other dogs and people, but extremely skittish.

They are in El Monte. Excellent caring staff, great lodging and fun times for your dog while you're gone.
