Wireless print server hook-up

Setting up a wireless print server in office the same as I have at home, but can I do it this way?

At home I have a D-Link DP-311U print server which works real well. It is connected to my Wireless router which has 4 separate LAN ports in the back of it so no problems connecting the DP-311U to it.

I want to do the same thing in my small office, but the wireless router here has only one LAN port on the back which is connected to the DSL Modem. So can I hook up the wireless print server so we can use it? I was thinking of going from the DSL modem to a small multi-port router which I already have and then connecting both the Wireless Router and Wireless Print Server to that router. would that give me the result I want or is there a better way of doing it without spending any more of my own money?

Since the print server is wireless, why plug it into the wired LAN at all?

It sounds like the wireless router in your office will need to be replaced if you want to use the DP-311U wired. I would suggest this, as I too had a DP-311U and it SUCKED over wireless.

Errr I should have explained why the wireless router will have to be replaced . . . The DSL modem (unless it is a modem/router combo) will only allow one device on it's LAN port. Adding a mini-hub/splitter and your DP-311U will only cause problems (it's possible that your DP-311U would be online but not your router).

A router should have a WAN and a LAN port. Your DSL modem should be connected to the router's WAN port unless it itself is a router.

If you only have 1 LAN port, buy a hub or a switch and hook it up via the uplink port. That will give you more LAN ports to work with.
