Where can I get cheap contact lenses in New York City?

Can anyone recommend a good place to get a deal on contact lenses in New York City?

Vanity is getting the better of me. After nearly a decade of going four-eyed, I want to wear contacts again. I'm particularly interested in those new-fangled silicone hydrogel doodads that are supposedly easier for people with drier eyes to wear.

Can anyone recommend a good place to get a deal on contact lenses? Money's a little tight. By the same token, are there any places I should avoid?

I'm not in New York, but I've found that hands down the cheapest contacts are found online- just get the prescription in person, and then trawl froogle or something for the cheapest option.

I second buying your contact lenses online for the best deal. I've always done this with good results.

Response by poster: OK, in that case, can anyone recommend a reasonably priced and professional optometrist to do the exam?

Sol Moscotts does exams for ca. $50 I think. Kevin Rosen is a nice guy at their 14th st location.

My info's for specs, not contact lenses tho'.YMMV
