Blackberry Mac Friendly?

I'm thinking of upgrading to the new Blackberry Pearl. Is their desktop software that syncs info (between my calendar, email, to-do's) compatible with the Mac, or will I need third party software?

RIM's own software is for Windows, but PocketMac is a Blackberry sync option for the Mac, and it's free (thanks to RIM, IIRC). They don't explicitly list the Pearl as supported, but I'd drop them a line to see if it's just a case of not updating webpages, or not updating software.

Are you getting an enterprise Blackberry or a personal one? I don't even use the sync software with my enterprise Blackberry -- the Lotus Notes connector on the Blackberry server syncs everything important over the air. (Non-enterprise ones do really depend on desktop sync, though.)

Response by poster: I'm getting a personal one, so the blackberry will depend heavily on sync software. Do you have any experience with PocketMac?

No, I don't, I was just aware that it existed and was backed by RIM. There's a bunch of discussion about it over on PINStack, a big Blackberry forum, which might give you an idea of whether or not it meets your needs.
