QuickTime ate my balls.

I'm having some Quicktime issues, so I tried to uninstall Quicktime to reinstall it from scratch (or perhaps install QTAlternative). However, I can't uninstall Quicktime at all, and, to add insult to injury, I can't even run Quicktime from the start menu - it hangs for a second, then nothing happens.

At the end of the installer, after it's tried to do everything, it tells me, "QuickTime Installer Completed. The installer encountered errors before the requested operations for QuickTime could be completed. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again. Click Finish to exit the installer."

When trying to run Quicktime, I don't see anything running in the Task Manager list of processes that suggests that QT is hanging up. iPodService.exe is running, as is iTunesHelper, but I don't see any processes that are explicitly QT related.

I'm running WinXP Pro, Version 2002, SP 2, on a month-old desktop. What the hell should I do?

Response by poster: Just remembered: I should add that I've tried restarting a couple times, which doesn't help. I've also searched AskMe archives to no avail. Thanks.

Sorry, but you haven't explicitly stated anywhere as far as I can see: have you tried running the installer again?

Response by poster: Yes, I've tried reinstalling/repairing, also without luck.

Best answer: Well, I finally figured it out - I uninstalled it from the control panel, which somehow did the trick, finally allowing me to reinstall. You can all rest easy now that my Quicktime saga has come to an end.
