Is anyone aware of a Windows app (preferably free) that will enable me to copy a possibly damaged CD-ROM? It seems to me that I'm looking for the data equivalent of CDex or Exact Audio Copy. Any suggestions are welcome...
Also, its time intensive stuff and best to set it to run over night.
I used it and it took about 5-6 hours, but it flawlessly lifted the data off of a CD-R that several other high end CD drives refused to read at all.

CloneCD is the standard, but BlindRead and BlindWrite are equally capable. Even your basic copy of Nero puts in a respectable effort if you read the CD at 1x speed.
Also, possession of a Plextor drive is really, really helpful for reading damaged CDs of any format. There is a reason Plextors cost more: they work better.

Several open source versions of this type of utility also exist, tho the names escape me.
