I want my hands to make love to the camera

Last night a friend remarked that I have beautiful hands. I have heard that before from many people. Inspired by vodka, the two of us decided that my lifetime calling is to become a hand model...

the problem is: how does one become a hand model? So if any of you have any experience in the domain could you throw some light on the mysterious world of hand-modelling... note, i am not quitting my day job yet.

Obviously you might have a better chance if you lived in LA or NYC but you may still have a chance in DC assuming the competition is not too fierce. Just look up "Modeling Agencies" in the yellow pages and start making appointments. If none of them are interested you know you won't have to quit that day job...

The hands that are really in demand are well proportioned, small hands, because they make the product look bigger.

Ford Models has a good "parts" department, you should try calling them to ask how to submit shots.

Looked into this once myself, but the requirements for keeping one's hands pristine seemed like they would impinge too much on my real life to make it worthwhile.

Try this article for a glimpse inside "the life".

Well this is how George did it on Seinfeld:

GEORGE: What?

WOMAN: (Looking at both his hands intensely) Your hands.

(George hands the last of the items to her, she takes them from him, then starts to admire his hand)

WOMAN: Hmm..

GEORGE: What?

WOMAN: (Looking at both his hands intensely) Your hands.

GEORGE: What about them?

WOMAN: They're quite exquisite!

GEORGE: They are?

WOMAN: (Mesmerized) Extraordinary! Have you ever done any hand modeling?

GEORGE: Hand modeling? (Shakes his head 'No')

WOMAN: (Fishes a card out of her purse, then hands it to George) Here's my card. Why don't you, uh, give me a call? (Walks off)

Now I HAVE actually been a hand model. However, I used to work as a graphic designer and our inhouse photographer needed a model occasionally to photograph...plumbing equipment. This wouldn't be too bad but I'm a woman and they were meant to represent mens hands lol Sorry, no help but had to share the tale :)

Hand models I have met always ALWAYS wear gloves and re-apply hand lotion several times a day, and seem to go to great pains to avoid any injuries to their digits. As well they should. It always strikes me as a tremendous hassle, though.
