How do I make Firefox cease to popup a tab in the lower right corner of my screen that says "All Downloads Completed"?

Best answer: about:config, set browser.download.manager.showAlertOnComplete to false by double-clicking.

Thank you for asking the question and aye for answering it. This has been bugging me for a long time but not enough to ask..

Also, get the Download Statusbar extension, which is probably my favorite extension.

Disable Targets for Downloads is another useful extension.

yeah, don't bother changing anything, just get the download status bar extension, its much more useful and will kill the popup itself.

Forgive my ignorance, but where is this about:config thing? I have no interest in downloading extensions, but would like to cure the same ill :)

you type it in the address bar Joh. Like a url.

And Joh, once you get to about:config, the "filter" box at the top of the page is a Good Thing. Type part of the name of whatever setting you're interested in changing into that box, and the huge confusing field of settings shrinks to show only settings whose name includes what you typed.

Download Manager Tweak gives you a little checkbox in the options to turn it off.

I use Download Manager Tweak.
