A film involving worms in butter...

I'm trying to remember a film I saw on TV 15+ years ago, it was a period film (1800's?) involving a woman who had to take up a trade route or business of some sort after her husband (supposedly) died. On her trip on the "trade route" someone has her try butter with worms in it. And I don't think her husband was actually dead. Can't recall much else.

Could it be Sommersby? Althought that came out in 1993, so it wouldn't have been on TV for a couple of years after that.

I don't know what your movie was - but there is not "trade route" in Sommersby (it's all about a farm) and no worm butter scene.

Was this film a Western?

Response by poster: I'm thinking it was set in Europe or England, but maybe not. Not Sommersby or a western.
