I'm looking for a product that performs the same function as the "page" button on my cordless landline. Press a button on the base, and the lost phone starts beeping until you find it. Ideally this is something small enough to attach to objects like keychains, remote controls, wallets, small digicams (RFID?). Anybody ever heard of anything like this?

I've been dreaming about that product for ages! In my version, instead of making a noise it was more like an airport connection and it showed you where the item was on the screen of your computer / palm pilot in relation to where the computer was (and you could enter unlimited items - just tag them with a strip of silicon or whatever) - but a beep is probably more efficient. Anyway. No idea if it's been produced yet, but I have plenty of items I need to tag... let me know if you find it.

How 'bout one of these? I believe it's exactly what you're describing.

There are other brands, of course.

I've also seen ones you can whistle for.

Someone at Xmas Dinner said Hammacher-Schlemmer (or whatever) sells a product like you're looking for in sets of 5.

I saw something like this at Brookstone while Christmas shopping...

I usually just call my cell phone from another phone. Hardly ever works, but it's the same principle as what you're talking about, right?

Response by poster: At first I took yerfatma to be referring to some online community called "Xmas Dinner." (How about a link, pal??) Awareness dawned as I began scanning the first page of google hits for that phrase. I need to get offline for a while.

Ahh. Here it is. One "home base" with four item choices, and four adhesive-sided disks to attach to various items. Thank you all.
