Help name our conference rooms
June 22, 2006 4:24 PM   Subscribe

Help me find related names for our three conference rooms.

We recently built out three conference rooms at work and now want to name them to distinguish them from each other. One is big and the other two are small.
It'd be cool if they were named somehow in relationship to each other (eg, Larry, Moe and Curly, or The Sun, The Moon, and The Stars). It would be an extra special bonus if they somehow related to our location, Portland, Oregon (eg, river or county names), or to our field which is high-definition video/TV (eg, Red, Green, Blue (RGB)).
I'll get a $50 gift certificate if mine get picked -- I'll kick something back to you if I win :)

If the Wikipedia entry regardin Portland is accurate, it indicates some of the Simpsons characters are named for streets in Portland. If that's true, then I'd suggest naming the rooms Flanders, Lovejoy, and Quimby.

Everyone else is looking at the Portland side of things, so...

How about something to do with the progression of tv tech, like (this is a bad example, but maybe someone has a better one): vacuum tube, projection, plasma

Name them for screen resolutions. The largest one being maybe your largest models name or screen resolution and the other two being appropriately smaller models/resolutions.

Red, Green and Blue are cool, but use alternate names, like latin or something.

Alternatively,

Bermuda, Miama, and San Juan.

Perhaps their geographic layout should be considered. I'm in San Diego. If the Big Room is in the north corner of the building, I'd name it Los Angeles. The Small Room to the south is Tijuana. The Small Room to the northeast is Victorville.

Composite, Component, Digital
that last one is tough ... SDI? 601? HDMI? Bah.

Y, Pb, Pr

720p, 1080i, 1080p

I still like Red / Green / Blue the best, or the very first comment above. Keep in mind that the names should not confuse people in conversation. "We're having the 720p vs 1080i debate in the 1080p room". That is, the names should be orthogonal to likely topics.
