XP foul up

So I started to do my paperwork on the internet on top of my computer. I began in pen to write on top of my keyboard, in a bout of busyness, I did not notice that my task bar got on steroids at that instant. I tried everything including a small diet and control panel. Needless to say, nothing worked and my taskbar and whatever else looks big, looks BIG! Anyway to get any of this back to normal? Why does godforsaken XP make everything so damn hard? I just want to shrink it.

Can you post a screen cap?

Normally, you can grab the top edge of the taskbar and drag to resize it. You might need to unlock the taskbar in order to do this. You might also need to resize items within the trackbar first.

Right click on the desktop. Choose properties and click the settings tab. Move the screen resolution slider to where you want it. Click apply.

From the above comments, it's not clear to people (or me) exactly what happened. A screenshot would be nice. Is it just the taskbar at the bottom that is double-height (or more) while everything else is the same? Or are other things bigger sized, too?
