Help me fix my PDLC

One of my PDLC sheets has stopped working. I know that power is reaching it, but it looks like the area around the plates has thinned out to the point of no longer working.

I'm hoping can just add tin strips to extend the conductors away from the dead spot, but I thought I would ask for other ideas before I start peeling up caulk.

I think the link in the post should be here. (The one in the post doesn't work in Safari because it doesn't have the https prefix.)

For future search hits:

Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) devices are a type of smart glazing or film that change their transparency in response to an electrical impulse.

From the linked PDF, it looks like they are used for window coverings / shades.
