Broken Toe Shoe Options

I broke my third toe- not as badly as I did 10 years ago when I first got the specialized post-injury Darco shoe (velcro, hard sole). I have to go back to work tomorrow so I'm wondering- Darco or Dansko?
When I first broke my toe I was off work for a long time due to another injury at the same time. I work in a High School so I'm worried the open toe shoes are too "dangerous" if someone accidentally steps on my foot or bangs into me. (Crowded hallways and teenage (and my own) lack of spatial awareness). But the first break healed "properly" (more or less) so I want this one to as well. I don't want to risk aggravating it with the Dansko if that's an issue. I also have hiking shoes and sneakers but Danskos seem to be the most rigid. These ones are 2.0 though- a little squishier. So...Darco or Dansko?

Response by poster: Just to clarify- I wore my 10 year old Darco shoe to the appointment to see if it was broken and just assumed I would keep wearing it. But then I started thinking about whether it was "safe" or not...I usually wear Danskos everyday anyway. But my newer XP ones are a little tighter and softer inside than the classic old school Danskos (which I also love but don't have a work pair right now).

I had to wear such a boot for three weeks recently due to a broken toe, and I specifically got one that had a closed toe, because of rain and snow but also for modesty. I bought both the Vive and Braceability models, and settled on the latter, but only because it was just a shade bigger (my toes were touching the front of the Vive). Otherwise both looked almost exactly the same, probably because one was a knockoff of the other, and I detected no functional difference between them.

I would try and obtain a closed toe medical shoe just because it seems like either option you are currently considering is going to stress you out and make you blame yourself if your toe heals weird. Better to spend the $25 and get a thing that actually fits your criteria.
While you wait for your Goldilocks just-right shoe to arrive I would just wear the Darco and avoid crowds if you can. You are in the first few days of healing, no reason to squish up your toe.
This might also be a good question for the doctor who diagnosed the break, if you have time to call before work tomorrow.

Sanita used to manufacture Dansko clogs before they outsourced to China and complaints about durability increased, for what it's worth.
