Seeking Fun Buddy Comedies

Friendship, some hijinks, lots of laughs and a happy ending. This is what i seek.

I went to see the EXCELLENT buddy comedy One of Them Days starring Kiki Palmer and SZA and I am seeking more like it.

Charismatic pairs or groups getting through a hairy situation with a cool attitude, good friends, and rolling with the punches.

Twins, maybe? Very funny movie where Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito are long lost twins.

From IMDB:

"Julius and Vincent Benedict are the results of an experiment that would allow for the perfect child. Julius was planned and grows to athletic proportions. Vincent is an accident and is somewhat smaller in stature. Vincent is placed in an orphanage while Julius is taken to a South Seas island and raised by philosophers. Vincent becomes the ultimate lowlife and is about to be killed by loan sharks when Julius discovers that he has a brother and begins looking for him."

It got terrible reviews, but I loved every minute of it. It's definitely a buddy comedy with a happy ending.

Would a husband-and-wife duo count? I thought Date Night (Steve Carell and Tina Fey) was really good.

I love you, man, with Jason Segel should fit this bill.

Ideal Home made me laugh a lot. Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan are a couple who take in a grandson unexpectedly, hilarity ensues.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Nicolas Cage (as himself in two roles) and Pedro Pascal being chaos muppets for 107 minutes.

They don't start off as friends, but Robert DeNiro and Charles Grodin are wonderful and hilarious in Midnight Run.

Spy, one of the best comedies ever made. Susan is mostly physically on her own, but her best friend Nancy is her almost-constant support via all the cool spy tech. Very much about friendship.

OK, this is in no way a high-brow comedy, but Dude Where's My Car is a stupid and funny movie that fits your requirements.

I remember really loving Roadside Prophets. I see it's available on YouTube. That may be what I watch with my husband on Valentine's Day this year (our love story involves a John Doe cameo). But the movie also has Ad-Rock, Timothy Leary, John Cusack, Don Cheadle, Arlo Guthrie and probably a bunch of other awesome folks I'm forgetting.

Also, Kikujiro is beautiful, but maybe tinged with more melancholy than you'd like.

Again, start with "Midnight Run." So, so good. (Also: so, so swear-y.)

These are really, really, "old school", and parodies of film genres popular when they were made, and probably corny by today's standards, but they also might fit the bill - the "Road To... " Series with Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and Dorothy Lamour

If violence/guns are okay, I might add Mr. and Mrs. Smith (the Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie movie). Definitely hijinks, an a happy ending.

Sideways.

It’s 20 years old but still very funny.

Bottoms! (The film- can't link, but it's pretty recent.) Fits the bill and is hilarious.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang with Val Kilmer and Robert Downey Jr. Kilmer has a ton of great lines and there’s one scene in the middle which is hilarious. Kinda happy ending

Lovebirds Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani as a couple about to break up who get caught up in a murder mystery. Good movie, happy ending. Again one scene just spoke to me and I was giggling about it for days after watching.

Red Notice with Ryan Reynolds and The Rock was a lot better than I thought it would be when I just put it on on a whim.

Melissa McCarthy and Jude Law (among others):
Spy

Melissa McCarthy with the incomparable Octavia Spencer:
Thunder Force

Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock:
The Heat

Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum:
The Lost City

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (with the french pronunciation, Keess Keess Bong Bong) is absolutely hilarious although the manic pixie dream girl is grating to me these days

I suggest "Nothing to Lose" starring Tim Robbins and Martin Lawrence.

Also, "Without a Paddle" might fit the bill.

And last, you might like "Let's Be Cops."

Also the Sisterhood the Traveling Pants.
