Does anyone have a recommendation for a great Jewish apple cake in Charlotte, NC? A friend is retiring and their local office is looking for her favorite!

Best answer: (Former Charlottean and frequent bakery patron) I don't recall seeing apple cake anywhere, and checked the websites of my favorite places and didn't see it on any of their menus. Maybe Goldbelly?

Response by poster: Sweetie Darling - thank you, I take that as confirmation of what I'm finding!

It's so easy to make I wonder if you could get a local cottage-industry baker to whip one up? I'm guessing homemade is not a possibility for some reason.

Best answer: For what it's worth I can't find this in Atlanta, which is both bigger and more Jewish than Charlotte.

I'm not an accomplished baker at all but I've made this before. It's really not difficult! If there's a baker in the office they could knock one out with very little trouble.

There's a Jewish deli/bakery called Joan's that may be able to assist. Apple cake isn't on their main menu, but I've seen a few things that suggest they make other items.
