Pit Trap Hunting Debunked?

I vaguely recall reading recently that the idea of early humans hunting mammoths by driving them into pits might be outdated or inaccurate. Something about more efficient hunting strategies maybe? If this rings a bell, please share any articles or information you have! My Google-fu is failing me.

Best answer: Is it possible that you're remembering it backwards?

I thought it was thrown spears that were being debunked and replaced by the theory that the "spear" tips found were actually from spikes in pits.

Best answer: This very recent Popular Mechanics article references a new study that says throwing a spear was likely ineffective and the best way to bring down a large animal like a mammoth was to use its own driving power into a spike.

Response by poster: Thanks! I must have been remembering parts, and my brain filled in the rest.
