Mexican restaurant in SoCal with stuffed animals as table markers

Trying to find a restaurant from a couple of decades ago which used stuffed animals as table markers for servers.
A number of years ago (two decades or so), I was in California on business and ran across a Mexican restaurant, I think sort of north of LA just off the 101 (but could be completely wrong about that). I went up to the counter, looked over the menu along the wall, ordered fajitas, paid, and was promptly handed a stuffed animal. Koala, I think. Turns out they used stuffed animals as table markers for the servers bringing out meals. Does that ring any bells with anyone? I will be traveling through that area again this weekend and would like to find that restaurant to relive -- and document -- the experience.
Footnote: that was my first time ordering fajitas. The server brought out a piping hot plate heaped with chicken and fixings. Looked delicious. I cleaned the plate and then wondered what the tortillas were for. Sigh.... I know better now.
