Looking for a simple Android app

I'd like to find an app that makes it VERY obvious that my ringer is muted. I know there's a microscopic icon, but I never notice it.
Ideally, change the backround color, or put a BIG icon on screen that says "your ringer is muted!"
PS: And ONLY does this, not callback to the company to dump phone stats, ect.
I am interested in this as well and will try whatever options folks suggest.
This said, I do have a fairly okay workaround in that I limited my "Do Not Disturb" function to three hours and I no longer turn my ringer off, I just activate that. This way, if I forget I left it on, it at least comes back around.

I've never used Tasker and it probably absolutely violates the "simple" requirement, but it should let you do what you want (and much more). I did (I think, many years ago) use the predecessor of the Automate app, which will probably do the same and with the same caveats.
Both of them are apps for automating processes based on conditions, so the idea is you should be able to set up a task that changes your background color etc. if the ringer is muted.

You can set up different “focus” or “do not disturb” modes that not only dictate the volume, mute settings, notifications and which app icons show up on the Home Screen but ALSO the wallpapers and lock screens while in that mode.
So if I were looking for what you are, I would make a specific focus mode called “DND WALLPAPER” and set it for maximum DND settings.
Then I would set it with a Lock Screen and simple wallpaper that I made in canva. The canva image would say “CURRENTLY IN DND MODE” and I would set the icons up so that the background wallpaper text is not overlapped by any icons.
