The Squid and the half Whale.

Is this the installation shown in the film "The Squid and the Whale"?

I am trying to find some photos of this piece, but each one I have founds seems to have the whale cut off halfway. Is this what the piece looks like in real life, or is there more? If it is indeed cut off, where might I go about sourcing an accurate depiction of what the rest of the whale would look like?

Hats off once again to the hive mind. Good day.

Yes, that's it. It's in the Natural History Museum in New York. All the photos I could find online are also cropped/framed in such a way that you can't see the whole thing.

Best answer: Yep, it's cut off. The whale is a sperm whale.

Best answer: Oh, and here's the official site.

Best answer: It's actually called Clash of the Titans. It's cut off because it's a diorama.

That movie title was such a great indicator of whether someone actually grew up in the NYC area, wasn't it?

"Wanna go see the new Noah Baumbach movie? It's about growing up in Brooklyn in the 80s, and it's called The Squid And The Whale."

FRIENDS FROM NEW YORK: Oh my god, that's GENIUS!

FRIENDS NOT FROM NEW YORK: The Squid and the...? What the fuck does that mean?

What made the reference strange for me is that when I was a kid (I grew up in NY), I wanted to get married in the Ocean Life Room.
