Temporary foam flooring

Hello, we are looking for some kind of foam flooring or similar to put in the bathroom to soften the sounds for the room downstairs.

It must be waterproof and we must be able to cut it to fit. We can’t do an adhesive back; it would be very difficult to remove. We have tried the interlocking squares and that proved to be a serious tripping hazard,. I’m thinking that a single piece sold in rolls that can be cut to fit would be best. We’ve been searching for about three days. The closest we’ve come is boat decking but it’s adhesive. Your thoughts would be much appreciated. I forgot to add that the bathroom floor is tile. And it’s a small bathroom.

Traditionally, a fan is not just for aeration-- it helps cover up sounds as well. Maybe add a fan with a timer knob?

Honestly, sound-proofing is pretty darn hard and doesn't tend to work all that well, unless you really want to get spendy and exotic (say, by double-walling, air-gapping, and floating the room on rubber spacers).

Best answer: You can get 1/4 in rubber sport floor that comes in rolls- the roll that I have for my erg is 4x10 or so, which you could obviously cut to fit.

Best answer: How small is small? Slightly off the wall answer, but I used something like this (6'x6') to waterproof the floor under my dog's xpen when she was a puppy. The one linked isn't the one I had, but similar - waterproof, slightly cushioned. No idea on how well it would soundproof, but if the thought is simply "putting down a rug will help" and it needs to go in the bathroom, it's an idea.

Best answer: I would look at industrial anti-fatigue flooring that is non-slip(something that looks like this). It will have large holes in it however it will soften the sounds of footsteps compared to feet on tile floor.

Best answer: Horse stall mats make for good budget exercise-room floor coverings.

Best answer: Use a sharp knife to cut a bevel on the foam mats. Anything you use will have a similar dimension, so will create the same hazard.
