How do older/non-mainstream songs go viral on TikTok?

I know, or can guess, that newer, popular songs can be promoted through the app. But what about the older ones that randomly go viral?
(Example under fold)
Recently this (cool and intriguing) song,
O Superman, has become viral with as a tiktok audio. I assumed it was a new song but then looked it up, and it's from 1981. There's also the example of Kate Bush recently become viral through tiktok.
Is it just organc- one user chooses the clip and ot goes vital? Or something else?

It's definitely a known phenomenon, and it does seem to be basically organic?

I feel like it’s also linked to companies who buy the rights to an artist’s music catalogue, some evidence here.

Usually someone finds the song, uses it to make an edit for their favourite TV show/anime/video game/movie/etc, and the song takes off from there.

To add on:
In 2020 this phenomenon got attributed to cosplayers of the video game Danganronpa in particular - whichever song got popular with that crowd became a massive TikTok hit not too long later. Circa 2021-2022 the trend seemed to be more Fandom Edit > Dance Number > Meme.
Right now the song import to TikTok seems to still be fandom edits, though the Dance Number step seems to be replaced with Personal Story Sharing.

But yes, sometimes it is that one user chooses the clip after coming across it. I feel like I saw a TikTok video about O Superman and how it started to be used.
