Has someone compiled a list of musical references from F.D Signifier?

F.D Signifier's most recent video is packed with many references to music that isn't part of my life. I'm particularly curious about the more recent black musical artists influenced by punk and rock that he flashed a few images in the video to reference, but dropped no names.

I'm out of the loop, and I only recognized a few artists he dropped names for. I'm planning on going through the video again and writing them down as they come up, but if someone has already done the work that would be a massive time saver.

And again, I don't even know how I'd begin to look for the punk and rock influenced music, since I don't have an entry point artist or genre name to get started with.

I might be able to help, but I'm not going to watch an entire 77-minute video. Can you point us to a few time stamps in particular?

In the section when he was talking about modern rock influenced black artists he was playing a
BACKXWASH video. Aside from that I do not recall him talking about much outside of Hip Hop.

If you are interested in the history of black punk and rock the term Afropunk might be a good starting place. The festival and orginazition have been pretty well coopted at this point but the 2003 documentary as well as the filmmakers writing ever since is quite good.

Response by poster: The "no name drop" bit is here, from 1:10:13 to 1:10:20 in the video.

Response by poster: Thanks St. Sorryass -- BACKXWASH is definitely one of the artists!

It looks like there are two others. One is shown right before BACKXWASH pops up (singing into a bouquet-decorated mic on a tinseled mic stand) and another shown after (green-lit hair, chains).
