fan music videos-- how can I find them?

So, being a child of the 80s, I love me a music video. Get me a song I love and back it up with some film that can be as weird as you like, as long as it sorta syncs up, that's my jam. Get me something that a devout fan has mashed up with their favorite characters and scenes and set to a song I love-- YES PLEASE. It seems like this sort of fan-made 'omg i love these characters what if I make a video that ships them and set it to this song' have either faded out these days, due to copyrights? or perhaps I'm just old and the songs I like to hear are lost in obscurity. Youtube is where I've looked; are there other sites that might have the cheesy dives I crave? Hope me!

To narrow it down slightly, Festivids is an annual video gift exchange for underrepresented fandoms (similar to Yuletide for fanfic). The collection on AO3.

The hot new term for this is fancam, if that helps your searches any. I personally think these are distinct from the fanvids linked above; vids are much more likely to be a) a full song, b) have a kind of "thesis" statement and c) have more varied topics than "my fave and/or ship are so hot and great". But the term might help your searches. And of course fancams are more likely to use newer, more popular songs.

Check out the vidding comm (community) on Dreamwidth! People often announce their newest vids there.

And! The hybrid (in-person and remote/online) scifi/fantasy convention WisCon has a vid party that's, like, 5 hours long where you can watch a bunch of curated fanvids along with other fans! WisCon is in a few weeks, May 26-29, and registration is still available.

Vidukon, one of a few annual conventions highlighting new and favorite fanvids, is a month or so away. You might want to also poke at the AO3 Vidukon tag or collections and see what's been there in the past, and come back in a month if you like what you see.

The older fannish term for "fanvid" is "songvid." If you're looking for older vidders who might have work with older songs in older fandoms, that's probably a term worth adding to your searches.

Not exactly a music video (although there is music) but fans of the Firesign Theatre will really appreciate this version of 'High School Madness'.
