Car rental between NYC and Poconos?

I'll be in staying Manhattan this June, in the West Village, and need to rent a car to get me, two kids and luggage to the Poconos on a Friday and then to Newark Airport on Sunday. I've been happy with Turo in the past, for price and ease of use, and I guess we could do that at the airport. But I'm wondering if there's a better option that doesn't require going to the airport to pick up the car.
This! I’ve had very good luck with Sixto in the Financial District.

You'll be paying a premium, though.

Airport locations often have fees that the downtown locations don't. The one way fee might negate this savings, though.

we have done exactly what greta. simone suggests, rented a car at hertz midtown and returned it in Boston. Then the reverse to get back to Manhattan for return flight. Easily done. You will have to be mindful of times they are open for pickup (and return if you do a non airport return).
I don't recall any surcharges for not returning to the same location. Might have been a little more but probably would easily get eaten up by the time and expenese to get to the airport to rent.
