What's that book - Edgar Allan Poe as a child

I read this book as a youngster, can't figure out the title. Google's no help. It was a fiction story about Edgar Allan Poe as a kid/early teen. I don't think it ever explicitly said it was about Poe, but the character's name was Edgar, and it was set in Baltimore. It would have been a children's/YA book. That's all I remember. Any ideas?

Who knew reframing Poe was a whole genre?? These are NOT right, I'm certain (too young, too old) but they each look pretty awesome, and at least you can rule them out for us...

Edgar Gets Ready for Bed
The Tell-Tale Start
His Hideous Heart (13 Tales)
The Exiles (short story, Ray Bradbury)

Depending on how old you are, could it be The Misadventures of Edgar and Allan Poe?

Response by poster: oh, timing would be helpful - I'd say 30ish years ago? And I don't think it was new then. Ohhhh the character in it may have been like Edward or something, rather than Edgar?
It was (for back of better description) kid-length. Like less than 200 pages?

It's none of those listed above, but now I have so many to add to my reading list :)

Thanks for these resources. We'll be having a NY Cycle Club ride to the Poe Cottage and the High Bridge this summer and I can use these for background color.

Was it a "modern" telling or a "historic" one (aka set in the 1800s)?

Response by poster: I seem to remember it as historic. or historic-ish. Definitely not modern.
