NYC novice needs to go from Times Square to Koreatown. How?

Hi Team Green, I am a NYC novice. I need to go from my hotel (near Times Square) to a location in Koreatown. Middle of the day, weekday. How best to do this? It looks walkable on my map. Is it? Is it safe? Any advice appreciated.

Yes it's walkable. Yes it's unbelievably safe and full of tourists. Legit one of the safest places you could be in the city.

It is walkable and safe although Broadway will be very crowded. It is about a 10-20 minute walk depending where in Times Square you are. You can walk down Broadway the entire way from Times Square to Koreatown. Alternately you can take any of the N/Q/R/W subway trains (yellowy orange line) from Times Square to 34th street.

Yes, just walk, and it’s safe any time of the day or night, or at least as far as anything else in this crazy world is safe. Source: I work near Koreatown.

Best answer: Yes, it is walkable. Every “short block” (eg, 45th to 44th) is one minute of walking time. Each “long block” (avenue to avenue) is 3 minutes. So, for example, 47th and 7th Ave to 32nd and 6th Ave would be an 18 minute walk (15 short blocks and one long block).

It’s true that Broadway is the shortest distance (diagonal), but if you have a few extra minutes and want a slightly less wall-to-wall pedestrian experience you might walk over to 6th Ave. and south from there.

Very walkable. Very safe. Take one of the avenues; Broadway might be a shorter distance but that time will get eaten up by pushing through crowds.

I walk from 40th and 6th to 32nd and 6th all the time as part of my job, and in the middle of a weekday in that particular area, this is not accurate. Big chunks of Broadway are pedestrianized around there, which makes it a much more open and pleasant walk. 6th is so crammed with office workers going to and from lunch that I always use Broadway instead.

Its one of the safest walks you could take in the United States. All tourists, slow cars, overwhelming police presence minding high end shopping areas (safe for you as tourist).
