A book about things a kid has to learn/do...?

Some years ago I learned about this not-recent book about N things a kid should/do learn before certain age. It was more on the practical side of things. I can't remember its title.

I only read the table of contents, but I think it kind of had a Boy Scouts vibe in the kind of things it suggested kids should learn.

It seems to have been written decades ago, so some of the suggestions were a little dated. But it was pragmatic.

Wherever I read about this book, it had its following. A certain number commented positively on it.

Best answer: Dangerous Book for Boys? Gender-unfortunate title aside, our son and daughter both read and re-read it many times.

There's also a version aimed at girls, The Daring Book for Girls.

There's actually a whole series each of the Dangerous & Daring books. And if you go with those, imo, get BOTH and ignore the gender-directed aspect.

There's also the Core Knowledge series by Hirsch.

I've also run across various life skills / merit badge / whatever they were called books for kids / preteens / teens / young adults, but I don't have specific ones to recommend. Even if you don't purchase from Amazon, their various book recommendation links can be useful to find different but similar.

This wasn't decades ago, but the National Trust has a 50 things to do before you're 11¾ marketing campaign and associated book. The book is from 2016. There is also Winnie-the-Pooh's 50 things to do before you're 5 3/4 and 101 Things to Do Before You're 16 by Clive Gifford, but I've not come across them.

Response by poster: @mid I think that might be it, but it seems to be a recent book. (Not that it matters, just that I thought it was something written decades ago. And the unfortunate title might be what made me think it was written eons ago.)

The book has an "old timey" vibe, with older-style illustrations and things like that.
