What's the best replacement for Google News

I hate the new interface. It's harder to read, it takes more time to read, there is less actual content, the content isn't as varied (news, sports, entertainment, business, etc.). What's the best alternative that doesn't require me to log in or set up an account (which I also refuse to do with Google) and includes at least some Canadian news in the overall roundup? I don't want to limit myself to just one source (i.e. one news channel or one newspaper) as I like having a diversity of sources presented.

Response by poster: Maybe I wasn't clear. I want a news aggregator. I want one place to go that will give me a round-up of what a number of media outlets are reporting, which is why I said I don't want single-site recommendations.

I like the Feedly app. It allows me to pick my sources, browse quickly, save stuff for later deep-diving, etc. (and that's all on the free version too). I quit Google News a few weeks before the redesign and haven't found myself missing it.

Best answer: Have you looked at MSN.com?

If you are on iOS/Mac, Apple News is great. It requires a subscription, but I think it's well worth it.

Response by poster: I'm not in love with MSN's layout either, but the variety certainly seems to be there, and it's giving me CanCon.

My computer's not a Mac, so that's out.

Maybe I'll take a look at Feedly, but the idea of making an account (especially without being able to try the service first) isn't very appealing.

Response by poster: Just because I've marked something best answer doesn't mean I'm unwilling to hear other suggestions. In fact, the more the better.

Response by poster: After a few days on MSN, I had to abandon it as well, as it was too cluttered with shopping and so-called "celebrity" marketing. I've ended up on Yahoo News. I'm not particularly enamoured with the interface and I still feel like I'm missing a lot of what Google used to provide, it's the best option I've found.

Not sure how useful it will be to you without creating an account, but maybe checkout upstract (which use to be popurls). I see no images, but mouseover gives a short synopsis beyond the hed. The Canada content may be...non-existent, tho. And on preview, it looks like I did create an account at some point, so not sure what your experience will be. A LOT of content there...
