A dear family member died. Is there any way for me to recover old texts?

US-ian, verizon (him) ATT (me). He also sent texts from a satellite phone occasionally. I’m his next of kin. I would pay a lot of money for this service. Is there anyone or any service that could help me with this? Texts not related to lawsuits or money, just a connection to my loved one.

Can you clarify if you currently see the texts on your phone? Are you talking about texts that you can no longer see, perhaps because they precede your current phone? And is your phone iOS or Android?

Response by poster: I’m talking about texts that precede my current phone - my phone is Android

What is the make of his phone? What are the chances he's configured it to wipe itself after 10 bad passcode entries?

Response by poster: His phone is gone (destroyed in the accident that claimed his life)

If it was a smartphone, and you can login to his Google or Apple account, perhaps you'd find them there?

According to a Community Post, they only retain stuff by about 10 days, and the request will ikely have to come from an attorney.

Again, what was the make of the phone? If he had an iPhone and had iCloud set up, the SMS messages would possibly be backed up to it. Similarly there is some but different backup that happens with Pixels, though it's a bigger pain to access them.

Was the satellite phone also lost in the accident?
