Although I am not an elf,

I'm dying to own a stocking cap/knitted beanie that comes to a point at the top. Not one that makes me look like I'm dressed as an elf or otherwise in costume, just something cute, slightly or somewhat pointed (not exaggeratedly, elfishly so, and not so pointy that it flops over like an old-timey sleeping cap, either).

I spent a couple hours trawling through Etsy and other corners of the internet last week, to no avail. Help me hunt and gather? I have picky suggestions below, but honestly any leads at all will be fabulous.

My tastes run toward plain (not gendered or specifically femme), wool, in a medium weight yarn (not chunky, not fine), though if inexpensive, any material is fine. Preferably red, although beggers don't always get to be choosers. Can be handmade, but I'm not envisioning a handmade "look."

If any material is fine, this is easy to DIY. When I make half-circle skirts, there's an extra semi-circle off-cut where my waist goes. If you sew the straight edge to itself, you get exactly the pointy hat you're describing.

If it has to be knitted, maybe people can use this description to convert to knitted.

Is this too pointy? She has a color called raspberry.

This one has a shorter point. It's modeled on a kid but the description says adult size. It's orange but it's also cotton, so you could easily dye it red with Rit dye.

This one is more like an acorn top, and can be made without spots.

If none of those suit, here's a knittng pattern that could be modified if you know a friend or family member who like to knit.

I just tried a quick search on Ravelry for "pointed hat," and there are many degrees for pointedness. A sampling:

a hat to make a point
exclamation point-period
make your point
pointed rib hat

Any ones that are close to your vision?
