Rates For Private Yoga, Massage and Healing Sessions In Your Area

I am doing some research on what healing and esoteric arts practitioners are charging for on-line/personal services in major urban areas. I am also looking for going rates that yoga teachers are being paid for studio in-person classes. i am specifically looking for yoga sessions, massage therapy, healing modalities such as reiki or other hands-on-healing types, and esoteric practices such as dream interpretation, astrological reading, psychic readings etc.

Average hourly pay for a yoga instructor in Toronto is about $40. But be careful!

For independent teachers that's generally for a max of 4 classes a day (one morning, one midday, two evening) and if they're not based in a single studio their travel time isn't usually covered (so for example, they might do two classes at various Goodlifes, 2 at a community centre per day, 6 days a week - that would be a strong schedule but only 24 hours a day).

For yoga instructors who teach a full slate of classes at a single studio (usually about 6 hours max, although a few studios can do better), their hourly rate tends to be lower. There are some good studios out there determined to create a good quality of life for their staff, but it's...not the most common thing. Yoga teachers pre-Covid anyway were in plentiful supply.

Where yoga teachers can increase their rates is to a) set up their own studio (AMA about fitness studios), b) enter an elite org which has its own...challenges, or c) develop a serious elite private client list.

i live in a town of 50k people (probably not major?). my amazing amazing massage therapist (a real therapist, not a spa massage) charges 70$ for an hour.

yoga i am not sure how much the instructors are paid, but most studios around here charge 40$ or 60$ per session, with classes of maybe 8-12.

I live in a small city (ha!) in New Hampshire -- 20K people. The massage therapist I've used (who is licensed and also a licensed personal trainer) also charges $70/hr for massage.

I'm in Portland, OR and currently pay 650 for 10 private sessions of yoga physical therapy (mostly standard-ish yoga, but my teacher has some additional training and a focus on recovery from injury). I get a discount for pre-paying for multiple sessions, but I'm not sure what the non-discounted price is. Sessions are usually an hour, sometimes a little longer. They're currently over Zoom for pandemic and travel reasons, but were previously in person for about the same price. My instructor used to own a studio, and we would meet there when rooms weren't in use. If we go back to in-person, she would come to my house since the studio space is no longer available.

I'm in Chicago. Individual yoga classes are typically $18-$20 for 75- to 90-minute classes. Massages (Thai bodywork, Shiatsu, Swedish) run $80-$95 an hour.
